1970 Edgar Hälbich was born in Omaruru, Namibia.
After finishing the German college in Swakopmund 1988,
he studied hunmanity between 1989 and 1992
with the main subjects on Germanistik and political science
at the university Stellenbosch in South Africa.
Late in 1993 he returned back home. During his studies he was
a member of the university newspaper"Die
Matie".This is where he got "bitten" by the passion print media. In the
capitol Windhoek he started working on his career as a journalist.
At first as trainee in the editorial department at the weekly paper
"Tempo". About six months later Hälbich got a job in
the editorial staff at the "Allgemeinen Zeitung (AZ)", that just like
"Tempo" belonged to the mediakonsortium "Democratic
Media Holdings" .
To begin with he was in charge of the sports area, then
between January 1997 and December 1999 he switched to the
areas local happenings and politics, to get more experience in other ressorts.
Afterwards he was in charge of the area justice
and became head of the AZ-beachoffice in Swakopmund.
Then in march 2003 the sports fan and Wildlife-Enthusiast
really wanted to know it: He moved to Germany, in order to take
on a new career challange. First he worked in
(Baden-Württemberg) as an independant journalist
and Englisch-Trainer for a couple of different medias and private customers.
Between November 2004 and Mai 2006 he made a long distance study
and became a ceritified PR-advisor/PR-tutor.
Since August 2006 Hälbich, who speaks besides German and English
also fluently Afrikaans (Burisch), is head of the English department
at the anglo-german institute, a privat language institut in
Stuttgart.
Edgar Hälbich is married and since November 2006 proud father
of a daughter.
